Dear Colleague,

I urge you to join me in honoring our Purple Heart veterans by co-sponsoring HR 1683, the “National Purple Heart Hall of Honor Commemorative Coin Act.”

The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located in New Windsor, NY and is the first location dedicated to honoring the more than 1.8 million men and women of our armed forces who have been awarded the Purple Heart medal.

The Purple Heart is one of the oldest and most recognized American military medals, awarded to service members who were killed or wounded by enemy action. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor’s mission is to collect and preserve the stories of Purple
Heart recipients from all branches of service and across generations to ensure that all recipients are represented, and serves as a living memorial to their sacrifice. The Hall of Honor is located at the New Windsor Cantonment State Historic Site, where General
George Washington created and awarded the Badge of Military Merit, forerunner of the Purple Heart.

The mission of the Hall of Honor is to collect, preserve and share the stories of Purple Heart recipients from all branches of service and across conflicts ranging from the American Revolutionary War to the War on Terror. The Hall of Honor preserves these
stories through the Roll of Honor, an electronic database where visitors can search for Purple Heart recipients, or view a changing selection of Featured Recipients. There are currently over 191,700 names enrolled at the Hall of Honor.

By signing onto this bill, we pay tribute to the sacrifice of our brave men and women and ensure their stories are preserved. Funds from the sale of the coin will support the expansion and renovation of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor to assist in
their mission of honoring the servicemen and servicewomen who sacrificed so much for our freedoms.

To cosponsor the “The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor Commemorative Coin Act” please contact Beverly Hart at
Beverly.Hart@mail.house.gov with Rep. Maloney or Chas Morrison at
