Sending Office: Honorable Bill Posey
All, We look forward to seeing you next Friday, February 23 from 10:00-12:00 in Rayburn 2325 for our second session of the Congressional Space Studies Series. Due to a scheduling conflict with Mr. Gerstenmaier (which is now rescheduled for
April 20), our February session will now focus on Astronautics, including a unique conversation with two veteran astronauts:
Dr. Sandra Magnus (STS-112, STS-125, Exp. 18 on ISS and STS-119, and STS-135, the final flight of the Space Shuttle).
Col. Paul Lockhart (STS-111, STS-113)
Dr. Mary Lynne Dittmar will introduce our two speakers and moderate an in depth conversation with them about their experiences, human spaceflight and NASA. As part of this session, participants will acquire an understanding of the training, experience,
and risks of participating in spaceflight missions from those who have done them, and who plan to do them.
Also, please mark your calendars for our next two upcoming sessions on
Friday, March 23 with Paul Hill, the longest-serving Director of Mission Operations (Shuttle, ISS, Flight Director and Columbia Accident Investigation team), and
Friday, April 20 with Bill Gerstenmaier, NASA Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations.
If you have already registered for the Congressional Space Studies Series there is no need to RSVP for this session, but any new attendees who did not participate in our first session in January should register with me before the next Feb. 23.
Also, Space Advocates has introduced a Twitter and Facebook account to keep you informed of space related events and training opportunities. If you are interested in joining those sites the links are below. Thank you!
