Sending Office: Honorable Jared Polis
I hope you and your staff will join me to learn the results of a groundbreaking nationwide survey of LGBTQ people and the urgent need for inclusive workplace paid leave policies. The briefing is being sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign.
In marking the 25th anniversary of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), we recognize that this landmark legislation has, and continues to benefit millions of workers. To understand the impact of the law and other paid leave policies on LGBTQ Americans, the
Human Rights Campaign recently surveyed over 5400 LGBTQ people. Among the findings, LGBTQ survey respondents revealed heightened concerns about accessing leave, citing potential loss of income and adverse workplace outcomes from having to disclose their LGBTQ
identities through leave requests as compared to the overall U.S. population.
The featured panelists (below) will breakdown the survey results, discuss the history of federal paid leave policies, and pending federal legislation.
Ashland Johnson, Director of Public Education and Research, Human Rights Campaign
Robin Maril, Associate Legal Director, Human Rights Campaign
Vicki Shabo, Vice President, National Partnership on Women & Families
The briefing will be Thursday, February 8, 2:00 – 3:00 PM in Capitol Visitors Center, Congressional Meeting Room South. Members, staff, and interns are welcome to attend. You can RSVP to
