Bipartisan Baby Caucus Briefing

Signed, Spoken, or Cross-Cultural: How Babies are Wired for Language and Learning

Thursday, February 15  3-4pm  Rayburn 2103

Dear Colleague,

A child’s language skills are paramount to their early development.  Children who are exposed to language in an engaging and supportive way are more likely to develop into lively learners.  However, supporting children effectively in the early stages of
their development can be challenging for parents and caregivers, especially for children with unique learning needs.

Please join our Bipartisan Baby Caucus briefing to highlight this important issue.  Details below:

Event: Signed, Spoken, or Cross-Cultural: How Babies are Wired for Language and Learning
When: February 15, 2018 @ 3-4 pm
Where:  Rayburn 2103

The briefing will explore how babies acquire language and what that means for later literacy and learning. Speakers will cover a range of early literacy strategies that address the language needs among children of varying socioeconomic backgrounds, Dual
Language Learners, and children who are deaf or hearing-impaired.  The panelists include:

Roberta Michnick Golinkoff, Ph.D.

We hope you will join us and learn more about this important topic.

Sincerely,

Rosa DeLauro                                                   Chuck Fleischmann
