Panel Discussion
Permanent Consequences of the Sinclair-Tribune Merger
Wednesday, January 31, 2018 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Gold Room – RHOB 2168

Dear Colleague,

Please join me this Wednesday, January 31, 2018 for a panel discussion on the implications of Sinclair Broadcast Group’s proposed merger with Tribune Media Co.

Panelists:

  • Gene Kimmelman, President and CEO, Public Knowledge
  • Michael D. Nilsson, Partner, Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis LLP
  • Francella Ochillo, Director, Government & Legal Affairs, National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC)
  • Christopher Ruddy, CEO, Newsmax Media

If approved, this merger would give Sinclair access to 72% of American households, changing the way Americans watch local news forever. With time running out, it is now more important than ever that we give this merger the scrutiny it deserves.

Last November, 49 Members of Congress sent a
letter
to Sinclair asking a series of questions about the impact on consumers and local news operations, which Sinclair refused to answer.

A bipartisan panel of experts will discuss potential effects and consequences of the merger, and answer questions from staff.

Please RSVP to Anna Hevia at anna.hevia@mail.house.gov. Interns welcome.

Sincerely,

TONY CÁRDENAS
Member of Congress
