Green Dot Bystander Intervention Workshop
On Tuesday, January 16, the Bipartisan Task Force to End Sexual Violence will host a Green Dot workshop in 340 Cannon. Green Dot is an evidence-based bystander intervention training which equips trainees with the skills to understand and prevent
sexual violence. This workshop will be provided by the U.S. Air Force. In 2016, the Air Force adopted the Green Dot strategy as part of a comprehensive approach to sexual assault prevention.
Green Dot is a community mobilization strategy that engages and equips bystanders to address high-risk situations as well as establish community norms to prevent sexual assault and harassment. The 90-minute interactive workshop will equip participants with
the basic skills to intervene and safely resolve dangerous or uncomfortable situations.
Green Dot’s evidence-based bystander strategy has shown effectiveness in preventing multiple forms of personal violence, such as sexual harassment, sexual violence, and dating violence.
This will be the first Green Dot workshop to take place on Capitol Hill. The workshop will be conducted by Dr. Dorothy Edwards, Green Dot developer.
The workshop is open to all Members of Congress, staff, and interns. A light lunch will be served.
