Dear Colleague:

We write to call your attention to an invitation you received from Champions for America’s Future, in conjunction with the Congressional Pre-K Caucus, to attend “Before the Starting Line: Kids Win with High-Quality Early Learning and Care.”

Research continues to show the importance of a child’s first years to their long-term success, but too many kids arrive on their first day of kindergarten academically, socially, and emotionally behind their peers.  Join Olympians and Paralympians just weeks
before the winter games begin in PyeongChang to learn how federal investments in high-quality early learning and care can help more kids arrive at the starting line ready to learn.

The briefing will occur on Wednesday, January 17th, from 11am – 12pm in 121 Cannon and includes the following panelists:

  • Allison Baver, Olympic Bronze Medalist, Speed Skating;
  • Tracy Evans, Three-time Olympian, Freestyle Skating;
  • Lex Gillette, Four-time Silver Paralympic Medalist, Long Jump;
  • Cameron Myler, Four-time Olympian, Luge; and
  • Steve Mesler, Olympic Gold Medalist, Bobsled and President & CEO, Classroom Champions.

Please RSVP to mrandazzo@championsforamericasfuture.org if you’d like to attend.

Sincerely,

Joaquin Castro                                     Tom Cole                                            Katherine M. Clark
