During This Holiday Season, Remember the Rohingya

As 2017 comes to an end, some 650,000 Rohingya have fled Rakhine state in Burma (Myanmar) due to a brutal military campaign underway since last August. Hundreds of Rohingya villages have been burned and thousands of people have been killed. The ongoing atrocities
have occurred is spite of repeated warnings in recent years of the potential for genocidal violence.

Oppose USCIS Effort to Change Casework Rules Without Congressional Consultation

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently sent out a notice to all Congressional offices announcing changes in the privacy release requirements for Congressional casework inquiries.  These procedural changes would impede caseworker capacity
to assist constituents with immigration issues. According to the announcement, an inquiry will only be reviewed by USCIS after February 15 if it:

Urge President Trump to Recognize Climate Change as a National Security Threat

In his National Security Strategy released on December 18, 2017, the President failed to include climate change as a threat to the United States, despite all scientific evidence to the contrary. The President’s own Secretary of Defense has stated that a
changing climate will impact our security, and Congress affirmed in the FY18 NDAA that climate change is a direct threat to our national security. Failing to recognize this threat in the National Security Strategy is a significant step backwards when it comes
to pragmatically addressing this issue.
