Lunch Discussion on H.R. 1409, The Cancer Drug Parity Act

Join in a discussion on legislation to ensure cancer patients have access to affordable life-saving oral oncology treatments

Dear Colleague,

On November 8, 2017, we would like to formally invite you to a lunch discussion on H.R. 1409, The Cancer Drug Parity Act. As many of you may know, insurance coverage for cancer treatments has not kept up with some of the most promising oncology research,
and cancer patients are paying the price. The Cancer Drug Parity Act would ensure that health insurance plans that cover traditional intravenous/injectable chemotherapy would also provide no less favorable coverage for prescribed, orally-administered anticancer

The lunch discussion will be held between 12:00-2:00 pm in 2060 Rayburn House Office Building, and you will have the pleasure of hearing from patients affected by this legislation, health care providers, and a few of the leading national advocates from the
International Myeloma Foundation. Oral chemotherapy is becoming a common standard of care for patients with many types of cancer, and more treatments are on the way as oral chemo represents approximately 35 percent of the oncology development pipeline. Most
of these medications are irreplaceable as no alternative intravenous/injectable therapies exist, leaving patients with the burden of paying astronomical out-of-pocket costs or forgoing treatment.

Please join us as we discuss how to address the disparities in coverage between oral and other intravenous/injectable therapies, and how we can ensure that parity in coverage increases access to life-saving treatments, while improving the quality of life
for cancer patients.

To RSVP for this event, please contact Danielle Doheny at
, and for more information or to become a cosponsor of H.R. 1409, the Cancer Drug Parity Act, please contact Robert Butora ( in Rep. Lance’s office or Erin Meegan ( in Rep. Higgins’s

Thank you.
