Dear Colleague:

We want to draw your attention to an invitation you should have already received from United for Medical Research. On Wednesday, November 15th at 2:00pm,
UMR cordially invites you to attend a briefing entitled Amazing Things that NIH-funded research makes possible in the
Rayburn House Office Building, Room G – 2007.

The panel discussion will include four NIH-funded researchers whose ground-breaking discoveries and personal stories have been featured on the
Amazing Things Podcast series.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Ed Damiano from Boston University who has developed a bionic pancreas for people with type 1 diabetes.
  • Dr. Li-Huei Tsai from MIT whose research may lead to a new, light-based treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Dr. Natalia Trayanova from Johns Hopkins University who has developed a computational model – a virtual heart – to prevent sudden cardiac death.
  • Dr. Vadim Backman from Northwestern University. Dr. Backman has developed a low-cost minimally invasive universal cancer test.

The discussion will be moderated by Amazing Things Podcast host Adam Belmar.

We hope you will join for this informative panel discussion. Please RSVP to United for Medical Research by November 14 at
umr@hudsonlake.com.

Sincerely,
