DEADLINE 3 PM TODAY: BECOME AN ORIGINAL COSPONSOR OF THE CARBON CAPTURE PRIZE ACT

Dear Colleague,

I invite you to be an original cosponsor of the “Carbon Capture Prize Act,” which directs the Department of Energy (DOE) to conduct a prize competition to incentivize the development, research, or commercialization of technology that can
successfully capture carbon from the atmosphere.

Although we may have different views on climate change, we can all agree that we must reduce the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere.  The Carbon Capture Prize Act would address this problem by directing DOE to establish a prize competition
for technology that reduces COin the atmosphere.  This bill authorizes an aggregate prize amount of $5,000,000, and DOE may run the competition individually or with other agencies. Prize competitions have long been an effective tool to find cost-effective
solutions for expensive problems. Join me in calling for a prize competition to help find ways to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere in a manner we can all support.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.  Your staff may contact Kate Brown of my staff at (202) 225-2601 or kate.brown@mail.house.gov anytime.

Sincerely,
