Congressional Biomedical Research Caucus Briefing:
The Genetics of Autism
Friday, June 23, 2017
Noon – 1 pm
Room 2044, Rayburn House Office Building
Boxed lunches will be available for attendees
We want to draw your attention to an invitation you should have already received from the Coalition for the Life Sciences (CLS). On Friday, June 23rd at 12:00 noon,
CLS cordially invites you to attend a briefing entitled The Genetics of Autism
in the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2044. The distinguished speaker will be
Dr. Matthew State, MD, PhD, from the University of California, San Francisco.
The advent of genome sequencing has allowed researchers to make significant progress in identifying genetic risk factors for autism. Dr. State has led this effort and just recently published research that found distinct sets of genetic defects that could
lead to autism.
We hope you will join the Congressional Biomedical Research Caucus to hear from Dr. Matthew State, who will discuss the profound scientific opportunities that are rapidly accelerating progress in autism research. Dr. State will also discuss the potential
for better and earlier detection methods, as well as the possibility for potential treatments.
Please RSVP to Lynn Marquis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Congressional Biomedical Research Caucus provides a forum where Members and staff can interact directly with preeminent researchers responsible for important scientific discoveries. Many of the stunning advances, made possible by NIH funding,
highlighted in these presentations have led to improved understanding of the cause, treatment, and prevention of human disease.
If you would like to join the Biomedical Research Caucus, please contact Molly Fishman (Molly.Fishman@mail.house.gov)
