Dear Colleague:

This afternoon, in response to the
Marines United scandal
, I will be introducing the Servicemember Intimate Privacy Protection Act. Currently, Article 120c of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) prohibits the sharing of
nonconsensually obtained photos (e.g., those taken in a locker room), but does not specifically prohibit
nonconsensual distribution of photos that were initially taken consensually.  The Servicemember Intimate Privacy Protection Act, or SIPPA, will close this gap in the UCMJ by making nonconsensual distribution of intimate images illegal under the UCMJ.

Please email or to receive our 1 page summary and bill text. If you would like to be an original cosponsor, please email my staff TODAY as we are introducing the bill this afternoon. Thank you
for your consideration.
