Dear Colleague,

I invite you to sign the below letter requesting the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education to support strong funding for Impact
Aid and ensure that the program continues to serve students on trust lands.

For many schools located on trust lands, Impact Aid is the only major source of funding. Schools use these funds for critical needs such as maintenance, transportation, operations,
and technology. These schools simply cannot afford any additional cuts to their funding.

The President’s proposed FY18 budgets has suggested cuts to the Department of Education and we must ensure that these cuts don’t limit the opportunities of future generations
by cutting their access to a quality public education. Impact Aid is not only an investment in the future of our students, it is also an obligation of the federal government under the United States’ treaties with Indian tribes.
