Help Businesses Create U.S. Jobs Through Trade
Become an Original Cosponsor of the Increasing American Jobs Through More Exports Act
Deadline: 10am Thursday, March 2
Dear Colleague:
Across the country businesses are working hard to create jobs and grow our economy. The Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank helps U.S. businesses export goods and services to international markets, creating domestic jobs and strengthening the U.S. economy. By providing
export financing that does not compete with the private sector, the Ex-Im Bank has become a profitable institution and should have the flexibility to use a small portion of its surplus profit to expand services to help even more businesses become exporters.
I urge you to become an original cosponsor of the Increasing American Jobs Through More Exports Act to allow the Ex-Im Bank to better serve the business community by expanding access to the financial tools the bank offers.
This bill allows the Ex-Im Bank to use no more than 3 percent of its surplus profits per year for 5 five years to expand the regional presence of these critical job-creating tools and help U.S. businesses export their goods and services. The remaining
97 percent of the banks’ profits will be used to pay down the national deficit. This 3 percent investment in job growth will help spur the economy to lower the national deficit and increase businesses access to the critical trade financing tools the bank provides.
Creating jobs through trade is a key ingredient to the recovery of the U.S. economy. In order for U.S. businesses to remain competitive with foreign companies, they must have access to export financing tools. The work of the Ex-Im Bank is an example of
how the government can support job creation while paying down the national deficit.
If you have any questions or would like to become an original cosponsor of the
Increasing American Jobs Through More Exports Act please reach out to Ross Arnett in Congressman Ruiz’s office at
Ross.Arnett@mail.house.gov or x55330.
Sincerely,
/s/
Raul Ruiz, M.D.
