From: The Honorable Daniel T. Kildee
Over the last few days, many of you have approached me with concern about funding for Flint before the end of the year.
Funding for Flint will come up for a vote today inboth the water resources bill, Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (formerly WRDA), and the Continuing Resolution (CR), in a package consisting of $170 million for Flint and other communities impacted by lead to replace water infrastructure and provide needed health care. That package consists of:
- $100 million in Drinking Water State Revolving Loan funds.
- $20 million in Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) funds.
- $50 million for lead exposure prevention and health care.
Please note, in order to ensure aid to Flint reaches the people of Flint after two years of this crisis, Congress must pass both the authorization language for
Flint included in the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act and the appropriations language for Flint included in the CR.
I ask that you support the Flint authorization in the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act and the appropriation in the CR.
