Please Join the Bipartisan House Earth & Space Science Caucus

Please join the new Earth and Space Science Caucus, which will promote and broaden awareness of the societal, economic, and scientific advancements made possible by the Earth and space sciences. From space weather, to natural hazards, to our Earth’s energy
resources, the Earth and space sciences impact every single district in our nation, and a wide variety of policy areas. This caucus will serve as a forum for lawmakers to connect with scientists in their district and the critical research and development they
do every day.

The caucus will support: federal investment in basic and applied science; strong and sustained funding for the Earth and space sciences in appropriations and authorization bills; more ways to move federal research opportunities into commercialization or
applications that serve societal needs; and the inclusion of Earth and space sciences in STEM education curriculum for primary and secondary students.

In the 115th Congress, the caucus aims to host quarterly events, including: an “Earth and Space Science 101” briefing in the first 101 days of Congress; an exhibition demonstrating how Earth and space science addresses national needs, featuring public and
private sector partners; a briefing on a current Earth and space science policy topic; and an interactive Earth and space science field trip.

We hope you’ll consider joining us as we embark on this new initiative to increase the presence of the Earth and space sciences in the House!

Thanks,

The Honorable Jared Polis (CO-02)

The Honorable David Jolly (FL-13)
