Dear Colleague,

Around the world, people are increasingly using electric bikes (eBikes) to commute and recreate. eBikes can help riders conquer hills, long commutes, or heavy cargo with ease.

Some communities are even integrating eBikes into existing bikeshare systems
. The eBike hangs in limbo, restrained by an uneven patchwork of local regulation and a lack of knowledge about the technology.

By now, you should have received an invitation to this electric bike learn and ride event. In addition to meeting representatives from eBike manufacturers, you will be able to
ride several eBikes and experience this exciting technology first hand.

eBikes are essentially electric-assist bikes that provide a “boost” to the rider. They are not mini-mopeds and pose no danger to regular bike users. This technology is already expanding the universe of potential bike users to include individuals that might
have been reluctant to ride or use their bike for commuting long distances.
to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Should you have further questions, please contact Paul Balmer in my office ( or Ana Meuwissen (
