This Thursday, May 26, at 10 am the Congressional Veterans Job Caucus will host a discussion panel in Senate Russell Room 188 on military and veteran spouse employment issues.
Much attention has been focused on improving the unemployment rate among veterans, however too often the employment needs of the military spouse are forgotten. While holding down the fort at home, the military spouse juggles family, deployments, and a career. The intention of this event is to raise specific challenges and opportunities spouses face in the job market and discuss potential policy ideas that can help relieve these burdens.
- Joyce Raezer, Executive Director, National Military Family Association
- Shelly Stewart, Associate Director, Paralyzed Veterans of America’s PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment) Program
- Kristine Kash, military spouse, Starbucks’ Military Spouse Employment Partnership
We are also pleased to have the Honorable Mike Michaud, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Veterans’ Employment and Training, as our moderator.
Interested staffers and interns are encouraged to attend. There will be time set aside for questions from the audience.
