Internet of Things technology is changing the way consumers interact with their environment. Makers are using small electronic devices to monitor, record, investigate, and control their homes, cars and workspaces. Having their devices connected to the Internet allows for increased interoperability and development.  Some innovative real world examples include the smart bed that monitors your sleep, the washing machine that sends a notice that it is finished, and automatic pet feeders.  The possibilities are endless,
or the limit of a Maker’s imagination.
Some issues to be discussed are:  designing devices with privacy and security in mind; role of government in providing guidance on consumer IoT devices; small business opportunities in IoT.
