Film Showing and Discussion on Faith and Guns

Tuesday, May 24, 2016
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Capitol Visitor Center
Congressional Atrium and Auditorium

Dear Colleague,

I would like to invite members and staff to a showing and discussion of The Armor of Light
on Tuesday, May 24th at the Capitol Visitors Center. The event will open with a reception in the Congressional Atrium followed by the showing of the film at 6pm in the Congressional Auditorium. After the documentary, we will be holding a panel discussion hosted by Rep. Elizabeth H. Esty; director Abigail E. Disney; Faith and Action in the Nation’s Capital president Rev. Rob Schenck; and Faith and Community Outreach Leader for Everytown for Gun Safety, Lucy McBath.

The Armor of Light follows the journey of Reverend Rob Schenck, a leading evangelical minister, as he tries to find the courage to preach about the growing toll of gun violence in America.

Our discussion will examine the issue of gun violence through the lens of Evangelical Christianity. We will facilitate a conversation that builds on the bipartisan efforts in Congress that can be and has been achieved to address
gun violence, such as the Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act, H.R. 1217.

Please RSVP through our  Eventbrite page and if you have any questions, please contact conor.douglass@mail.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth H. Esty

Member of Congress
