Join more than 50 colleagues interested in aerospace issues

Dear Colleague:

As we begin the second session of the 114th Congress, we wanted to ensure you were aware of, and would consider joining, the House Aerospace Caucus.  Currently the bipartisan caucus consists of more than 50 members of the U.S. House of Representatives.  As you know, the aerospace industry touches almost every state and in the country and is a leading contributor to the world’s safety and security, global travel, beyond earth exploration, and domestic economy in the United States. The industry had its formal beginnings in America when Henry Knox, the first U.S. Secretary of War, commissioned six naval frigates for the U.S. Navy in 1794. In the following two centuries the Wright Brothers pioneered the first powered flight, U.S. aviators set records in transcontinental and around the world flights, and America broke the sound barrier and landed a man on the Moon.

Today, the aerospace industry in the United States employs more than one million workers across all 50 states. It is also the nation’s largest net exporter and one of the biggest contributors to the annual U.S. GDP. Technological advancements in the industry have spurred innovations in jet aircraft, communications satellites, the internet, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and other new technologies that help save and improve the lives of Americans every day.

The strength of the aerospace and defense industry helps keep our men and women in uniform safe and successful on the battlefield, ensures that more than two million airline passengers travel safely and efficiently every day, and enables humankind to explore the frontiers of space and discover new lifesaving technologies in the process.

We envision a productive year of luncheons and briefing on various aspects of the aerospace industry.  We hope you will join us.
