On February 12, I encourage you to join me in celebrating the birth of one of the fathers of modern scientific thought: Charles Darwin. As we know, Darwin’s theory of evolution by the mechanism of natural selection continues to provide humanity with a logical and intellectually compelling explanation for the diversity of life on Earth. It is important that we honor those who have worked promote science, reason, and the advancement of human knowledge.
My resolution would designate Charles Darwin’s 207th birthday, February 12, 2016, as “Darwin Day.” Charles Darwin exemplified human curiosity, ingenuity and reason throughout his life, and he is a worthy namesake for this resolution that demonstrates the importance of science and reason in our modern discourse.
If you would like to join me and become a cosponsor in honoring the achievements of Charles Darwin and celebrating scientific thought and reason, please contact Justin Meuse in my office at 5-5541 or Justin.Meuse@mail.house.gov.
