By now, your office should have received an invitation to an important briefing on new research about what is working to end child marriage and empower young women. I hope your staff can attend.
Sincerely,

Member of Congress
What works to end child marriage?
Findings from U.S.-funded studies and implications for US efforts abroad
Wednesday, October 14th
2-3.30 p.m.
Cannon House Office Building, Room 122
Each day, 41,000 girls marry as children. That’s 15 million girls each year. This is not only a violation of girls’ human rights, but also poses severe challenges for global development and an impediment to US investment abroad.
It’s also entirely preventable.
In celebration of International Day of the Girl, please join the Office of Congresswoman Betty McCollum, the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), the Population Council and Girls Not Brides USA for a briefing on groundbreaking findings from two USAID-funded studies on efforts to end child marriage in two global hotspots: South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. The briefing will showcase new research and consider implications, lessons-learned and next steps for U.S. global leadership to end child marriage.
