Prevent American Resources from Assisting Iran’s Nuclear Program
Cosponsor the Prohibiting Assistance to Nuclear Iran Act, H.R. 3273

Dear Colleague:
Please join me in ensuring that no U.S. funds or resources will ever be used to help Iran’s nuclear program by cosponsoring the Prohibiting Assistance to Nuclear Iran Act, H.R. 3273.
The administration’s nuclear deal with Iran requests that the U.S. and the other negotiating nations help develop, modernize, and protect Iran’s nuclear program. The deal calls for civil nuclear cooperation between Iran and the E3/EU+3 (China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States). Specifically, these measures are defined in Annex III of the agreement and they include cooperating with Iran to modernize reactors, acquire fuel, exchange technology, and assist with additional research. This is unacceptable.
My bill would prohibit any U.S. financial or military assistance to develop, use, or protect any technology or other assets of Iran’s nuclear program. Additionally, this bill would allow the president to request a waiver from the provisions in the bill if the president deems it is in the best interest of our national security. Congress would have five legislative days to approve the waiver, ensuring swift action should such action be warranted.
Congress needs to make it clear that the United States will not assist Iran’s development of nuclear capabilities. The Prohibiting Assistance to Nuclear Iran Act will do just that.
It is our duty to ensure that hard-earned taxpayer dollars are not used to assist Iran’s nuclear technology in any way. The U.S. spends billions of dollars every year in foreign aid to protect liberty and democracy. We should not use funds in ways that are counterproductive to that mission. With our national debt exceeding $18 trillion, taxpayer dollars should not be used to support a rogue nation which calls for the destruction of the U.S. and our allies.
