SUPPORT CRITICAL MEDICAL RESEARCH

Sign Programmatic Letter Supporting the National Institutes of Health (NIH)

DEADLINE:  April 1st

Dear Colleague:

Please join us in sending the attached letter to Chairman Kingston and Ranking Member DeLauro encouraging the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies to continue support for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Fiscal Year 2015.

The National Institutes of Health are our nation’s preeminent medical research centers and represent our best hope for finding cures, improving treatments, and gaining a better understanding of the diseases and conditions that affect millions of Americans. NIH research is a critical part of meeting health care challenges, strengthening our economy, inspiring the next generation of scientists, and maintaining our nation’s leadership in innovation. Continued investment in the NIH can leverage existing resources for maximum impact and will build on current progress to further help the American public.

We encourage you to support continued, strong investment in the NIH by signing the attached letter and joining the effort to support life-saving medical research.  If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Manson in Rep. Reichert’s office (5-7761) or Dante Cutrona in Rep. Gerlach’s office (5-4315). Deadline for signing the letter is Tuesday, April 1st.

Sincerely,

Dear Chairman Kingston and Ranking Member DeLauro:

As Members of Congress who strongly value the contributions of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), we are writing to thank you for your past support and to respectfully request your continued support for NIH medical research, which is essential to sustain advances in science and the health and economic impacts of the research it funds.

We recognize and appreciate the challenges facing the Appropriations Committee and your ongoing efforts to find savings in the most responsible areas. We urge you to consider the wide-ranging, positive effects of investment in research on health and the economy. We appreciate your consideration of our request.

Sincerely,
