Support the Educational Benefits of Chess
Cosponsor H.Res.169
Dear Colleague:
Please join us in expressing support for the educational benefits of chess and encourage schools and community centers to engage in chess programs to promote problem solving, critical thinking, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills, situational
awareness, and goal setting.
Chess plays a critically important role in promoting education in the United States.  Thousands of students have benefitted from playing chess and schools participating in chess programming have seen improved math and reading scores on standardized tests
among students.
H.Res. 169 recognizes the educational benefits of chess and supports the designation of Saint Louis, Missouri, home of the internationally renowned Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, as the “National Chess Capital.”
To cosponsor this bipartisan resolution, please contact Pauline Jamry in Rep. Clay’s office at, or Trey McKenzie in Rep. Luetkemeyer’s office at  Thank you.
