Making Work Pay:
Women and the Employee Free Choice Act
2261 Rayburn House Office Building 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 30
By now you should have received an invitation from the National Council of Women’s Organizations to attend an important briefing regarding women and the Employee Free Choice Act.
Working Americans are facing the toughest economic times in decades. Wall Street recklessness and greedy CEOs have led the middle class into a crisis and created the largest recession in 30 years. One way to improve the lot of America’s working class women is to provide them with good paying, secure jobs. And one of the best ways to ensure job security, good wages, health benefits, and retirement security is through unionization.
With Congress currently debating the Employee Free Choice Act we’d like to take this opportunity to encourage you to attend this important briefing discussing the benefits of unionization for women.
Rachna Choudhry, Policy and Advocacy Manager, National Partnership for Women & Families
Ariane Hegewisch, Study Director, Institute for Women’s Policy Research
Carol Rosenblatt, Executive Director, Coalition of Labor Union Women
Amy Swanson, Grassroots Lobbyist, Service Employees International Union
Moderator: Tiffany Heath, National Coalition Organizer, Voice at Work, AFL-CIO
We urge you to attend this important event. For more information, please contact Dana Thomas in Congresswoman Schakowsky’s office at 225-2111 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
